Cast Nylons Limited (CNL) started from its humble beginnings in 1979, located in a modest 7,000 sq. ft. rented building in Wickliffe, Ohio.
The company was originally launched as a joint venture between John D. Thorp and a group of investors.
John’s son, Jack Thorp, joined his father in the startup and became the company’s first General Manager.
In 1980, Cast Nylons Limited introduced NYLOIL®, the first oil-impregnated cast nylon material, to the US market.
In 1987, Jack Thorp bought the company from his father and the investors (becoming the sole owner) and launched a new era of sustained growth by investing in technology, developing new and advanced cast nylon formulas and driving multiple facility expansions that resulted in the company becoming the largest cast nylon manufacturer in North America.
In 1992, Cast Nylons Limited developed the first molded sheave, opening up a new market opportunity for cast nylon materials.
In 2014, Cast Nylons de Mexico was established in San Luis Potosí, Mexico as a service and distribution center to support our continued growth.
In 2019, Cast Nylons Limited celebrated its 40th year in business.
Currently headquartered in Willoughby Ohio, Cast Nylons Limited has expanded its business to over 120,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing, casting, distribution and customer service operations to serve our growing customer base around the globe.
